Many parents in Florida do not know their child could be attending a private school at little to no cost. Fortunately, there are multiple options to help lower and middle-income families looking to enroll their child into a participating private school.
Florida Tax Credit Scholarships are available to help Florida families send their children to participating private schools or to cover transportation costs to attend a different public school in another school district. Scholarships are for lower-income families and students who have recently been in foster or out of home care. The average scholarship value for Florida Tax Credit Scholarships is up to $6,800 for enrollment in an eligible private school; or $750 awarded to a student for transportation to a Florida public school that is located outside the school zone in which the student resides.
Family Empowerment Scholarships are publicly funded scholarships that help lower and middle-income families send their child to a participating private school. To qualify for these scholarships, families must reach set income limits. These limits reach up to $105,480. Students must be entering Kindergarten or have attended a public school the previous school year, or have recently been in foster or out of home care. The average scholarship value for family empowerment scholarships is up to $7,250.
